Stompers at The House of Wax for the premiere of La La Land

December 10th, 2016    Posted in Uncategorized

Hey folks!

We’ll be appearing at The House of Wax (located in the brand-spankin’ new Alamo Drafthouse in downtown Brooklyn) on December 15th and 16th, where we’ll be providing the music for their premiere of La La Land.

The Alamo Drafthouse, for the uninitiated, is a really hip movie theatre from Austin, Texas. They have a great menu and an awesome selection of local and imported beers. The House of Wax is located inside the theatre, and is a funky little dive bar – perfect environs for us!

Each night, we’ll be playing from 7-11pm. There’s no cover, and you don’t need to purchase a ticket to come see us, but we highly suggest you check out La La land, as it’s a great film. We may even do some songs from the soundtrack – who knows!

Stomper Spotlight! Christi Gehrisch

November 1st, 2016    Posted in Uncategorized

Meet Christi Gehrisch!

Christi holds down the vocal chair in the Lowdown Stompers, as well as handles most of the booking for the band. Odds are when you contact the band, Christi is on the other line ensuring that your event goes off without a hitch.

Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Christi got her start with the prestigious Columbus Youth Jazz Orchestra – a band comprised of Ohio’s most talented young musicians.

Since moving to New York, she’s performed all over the Tri-State area with groups of her own as well as the Stompers. She also books one of NYC’s most fun jazz venues, Cavatappo, located at 89th and 1st ave in the Upper East Side.

After many requests, we’ve decided to augment our swingin’ little operation with a brass band!

The brass band is made up of the core members of the Lowdown Stompers, plus some additional horn friends of ours, as well as tuba and a bass drum! We’re having a blast playing together, and we’re ready to bring the heat to your next event!

Enjoy these clips from a recent recording session, and drop us a note and tell us what you think!

Public Performance Alert!

August 24th, 2016    Posted in Uncategorized

The Stompers have 2 public gigs coming up which are featuring musicians whom work with us regularly.

  1. Mike Sailors (leader of the Lowdown Stompers) will be appearing at Cavatappo on 9/1. Appearing with him are members of the Stompers, as well as the ever-swinging’, ever-tasteful singer, Hilary Gardner. Hilary is a true “singer’s singer”, appearing in jazz venues and festivals all over the world, as well as on Broadway. Together, they’ll be traversing music from the Great American Songbook, hitting on each of their personal favorites. The food at Cavatappo is quite likely the best Italian cuisine you’ve ever had, so this is a show not to be missed!   Make your reservations today! The band plays from 9-11pm.
  2. On 9/11, our bandleader will again be leading the band at one of our favorite places to play in Brooklyn – Radegast Hall. There’s no cover, and we play from 7-10. Come and eat some sausage and drink some beer with us!

Hope to see you out and about, and as always, keep swingin’!

~The Stompers
